OUR WALKS

All-Inclusive Walking Holidays

Rugged limestone peaks, softly rounded sandstone mountains, orange groves, paddy fields and long, long sandy beaches; the variety of landscapes here is unique. Our walking programme takes full advantage of this, interspersing longer walking days with shorter ones. On longer days we provide a picnic lunch and take you out for dinner at a good local restaurant in the evening. On the shorter days we walk in the morning and provide lunch somewhere special, be it in a castle with fabulous views, on the beach or after a stunning boat ride by a lake - all of course is included in the price!
Our longer walks include the highly popular railway walk where we drive almost to the top of the Sierra La Safor ridge and make a gradual descent to the picturesque village of L’Orcha, returning along a disused railway line, through tunnels and steep-sided gorges, following the course of the river Serpis on the banks of which we stop for a picnic lunch.

Or perhaps it will feature a gentle climb through pine forests beneath the impressive peak of El Garbi mountain to picnic on the ridge of La Redonda where panoramic views extend over Valencia, the historical town of Sagunto, the Palencia valley and the Sierra Espadan natural park.

Our shorter walks include a walk through the beautiful protected valley of La Murta home to over 500 different species of flora, and an interesting disused monastery. A short drive to L’ Albufera lake then takes you on a boat crossing to lunch at one of the best paella restaurants in Valencia. Or how about a ridge walk across the extinct volcanic hills that separate the beach of Cullera from the paddy fields and nearby mountains, followed by lunch by the beach in a beautiful white sanded bay.

Each walk is different and all walks are easy to moderate, although we do have some more challenging options for the more adventurous. Some of the walks have an easier option as well so that if you feel like more of a stroll on the day this will not be a problem.

Independent Walking Holidays
On the banks of the river Palancia, nestling in the valley between the mountain ranges of the Sierra Calderona and the Sierra Espadan, our base at Segorbe offers many walking opportunities - some right from the front door of your hotel.
Again here you have a choice of shorter and longer walking days, on two of which we drive you further into the nearby natural parks to enjoy the two guided walks that this holiday includes.

Here too, a key feature is the variety of scenery on offer. We have a railway and riverbank walk that follows a disused rail route through tunnels, over a dam, and past pretty cascades before stopping for lunch in the pretty village of Navajas and returning to the hotel through fields of sharonfruits, oranges and cherries.

Or how about a gentle climb through cork oaks and pines, past civil war fortifications and on to a beautifully restored ice house, before returning to the village of Chovar for a fine paella lunch.

We offer a choice of self-guided walks with full route notes, most of which are easy to moderate. On the two guided walking days, lunch or a picnic is provided.
